Laci Lambacher was born in Austin, Texas and grew up on a farm near Elgin, Texas with all kinds of animals including horses, cattle, goats, cats, pigs, sheep and of course dogs. Her love of animals and dog training began at a very early age as her family always had many dogs on the farm. As a young child, her dad rescued an Australian Shepherd, named Ruby, and brought her home. Laci and Ruby were inseparable. Soon Ruby was teaching Laci dog agility as she began jumping over everyday objects in the yard. And so, her dog obsession began and has only grown over the years.
A few short years later, her family rescued a Rottweiler puppy, named Buddy, who needed some extra training with someone who had experience with Rotties. Her family found Briana and hired her to help train the family and Buddy. Briana’s training with Buddy inspired Laci’s interest in dog training even more.
Laci spent over 5 years as the lead 4-H dog club trainer and advisor for the Bastrop County K9 Cadets 4-H Club working with kids and families. She taught 4-H kids how to work with their family dogs to learn all aspects of dog care, nutrition and grooming. Once kids learned the basic with their dogs, she taught them how to compete in 4-H Dog show events, including Obedience, Rally, Showmanship, Conformation, Agility, Tricks, Costume and Drill Team so they could compete in many 4-H county dog shows and the Texas 4H Dog Show.
As a past 4-H member, Laci also competed in many 4-H county dog shows and the Texas State 4-H Dog Show for over 6 years winning numerous 1st place trophies, High in Trail Agility and High Point Obedience awards. She also served on the 4-H Dog Show Advisory Board for many years. She was honored to be asked by the Texas 4-H Dog Show Committee to serve as a Judge for the 2017 Texas State 4H Dog Show where she was a judge for the Obedience and Rally classes.
Before joining the DogJoy team, Laci worked as a Pet Care Specialist, Daycare Supervisor and Operation Manager at another dog facility for almost 3 years. There she also did dog grooming and training as needed. In 2015 she participated in the Canine Restoration Challenge that was a competition among 14 dog trainers to train 14 shelter dogs for 2 weeks with the goal of getting them adopted. She trained her shelter dog obedience and agility and did very well in the competition.
Laci is thrilled to have found DogJoy, as she was looking for a place to be part of a team that focused more on dog training and behavior modification and DogJoy is that place!
When not at DogJoy, she enjoys competing with her two dogs Panda, a Border Collie, and Diesel, a Border Collie/Australian shepherd mix, in AKC, NADAC and ASCA agility trials. Laci also competes in AKC Obedience and Rally shows. Recently she has started some dock diving with her dogs. She is also interested competing with her dogs in Tricks, Nose Work and Barn Hunts.
Laci says, “Some of my goals for my dog career are to obtain my CPDT-KA, CPDT-KSA, CBCC-KA professional certifications. I would like to one day be an AKC judge for Rally, Obedience, Agility and maybe Conformation. I also would like to qualify and compete in the AKC Agility Nationals. But one thing is certain, you will always find me working with dogs!”
