DogJoy believes in helping people build their best relationships with their dogs through positive methods, play and other reinforcements. DogJoy offers group training classes where dogs can learn to focus and be around other dogs, private lessons tailored to both you and your dog, as well as behavior modification during daycamp, group dayschool classes and even board and train services that will let you bring home a better behaved dog!

We use modern, proven, positive reinforcement training methods grounded in learning theory. We are strong believers in marker training and in building a relationship with your dog by learning what truly motivates him in life – praise, toys, food, a ride in your truck, etc.

Together we’ll create a thinking dog, a dog that makes good decisions on his own without you having to micromanage his every move. We’ll find the training method that works best with your dog’s personality and learning style and teach you how to easily implement it into your daily routine. Our goal is to create a respectful and loving relationship between you and your canine companion.

Having a well-behaved dog enables you to include your canine companion in your daily activities and in turn gives your dog the opportunity to become more socialized to the world around them, and socializing your dog reduces the risk of unwanted behavior, including aggression.

AKC S.T.A.R. PUPPY CLASS (Group)

This class is for puppies between the ages of 9 weeks and 6 months, who are dog-friendly and who have had at least two sets of puppy shots.

Don’t wait until your puppy finishes all of their shots. It will be too late! Read Dr. R.K. Anderson’s letter about the importance of socialization BEFORE the age of 16 weeks.

The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Class is designed to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start.

At the end of this course we will administer the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Test. Upon passing the test, you get an application to send to the AKC for enrollment in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program. All dogs are welcome to participate in the program including pure breeds and mixed breeds.

Your puppy will also receive the AKC S.T.A.R Puppy Medal and you and your puppy will be listed in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy records and more!

The key to having a well-mannered adult dog is to start training at an early age. You can do a little work now to prevent some big problems from turning up later. Socializing your puppy to the world around her and teaching her some basic cues should be your top priority. This class provides you and your puppy with the knowledge and information that you will need to obtain those goals.

Course length: Once a week for 6 weeks

Class length: 1 hour

Cost: $229

GOOD MANNERS I (Group)

Our Good Manners 1 class was designed for adolescent and adult dogs and is a completely new format from the years before.

At this age they are full of energy, are hyperactive and are very easily distracted by their environment. This class concentrates on teaching you how to get (and KEEP) your dog’s focus on you in these distracting environments – the same kind of environments we live and play in, where we want our dog’s attention and reliability on cues.

Even though you may have attended other training classes, we promise you’ll walk away with more from this class than you ever thought and you and your dog will learn that positive training is fun and rewarding. This basic class will help you build an even better bond with your dog.

Good Manners 1 includes instruction in problem solving, canine body language (what your dog is really saying) and overall proper canine manners. Not only do we work on teaching your dog to be attentive and focus on you, but we work with you to teach your dog basic skills such as sit, lie down, stand, stay, proper human and dog-dog greetings, walk nicely on a leash and more!

GOOD MANNERS II (Group)

This class is an exciting new opportunity to earn your dog’s AKC Canine Good Citizen Title or for continuing education after completing our Good Manners 1 class.

Good Manners 2 will focus on proofing the behaviors learned in our Good Manners 1 class and prepare your dog for the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Test.
Stays, proper dog/people greetings, come when called, wait at doors, leave-it and settle are just a few of the things that we will work on improving in this class.

You will have the option in week 6, graduation day, to test with an AKC evaluator for your dog’s CGC Title. If you’re not ready to test yet, you’re still welcome to run through the test for practice.

*Prerequisite: You and your dog must have graduated from our Good Manners 1 class or have completed a series of private lessons for basic obedience, and can focus in a group environment around other dogs. Please contact us if you have any questions.

TRAINING GAMES (Group)

This class is an exciting opportunity to prepare for our more advanced classes, to improve your dog’s basic skills or to just have some fun with other dog owners that love challenging their dog’s minds while learning new things.

Playing games is what makes this course so much fun! Classes will focus on proofing the behaviors learned in our Good Manners class by adding duration, distance, and distractions to each of the skills through training games. Sit, down, stay, leave it, come, and loose-leash walking are just a few of the things we will work on improving in this class.

This class is specifically kept small so that we are able to tailor each class to the needs of the dogs and offer individual attention to each participant
If you have ever taken a class with us before, you know that we always focus on training through FUN so this class will never be repetitive or boring. And since each class is different from any other, you can sign up for our Training Games class over and over and you’re guaranteed to always enjoy new challenges and games.

DAYSCHOOL

Our DaySchool program is an all-day training program where your dog spends their entire day in the company of our DogJoy trainers, in a group/classroom environment with other dogs. There’s a mid-day nap to refresh for the evening session, and behaviors are practiced during outside on-property field trips as well.

Your dog will:

  • Always be reinforced for making the right decisions
  • Learn new skills, including off-leash skills
  • Learn proper social behavior
  • Learn how to respond reliably in a group of dogs
  • Learn problem solving skills
  • Play training games
  • Splash Park trips and swim time (weather permitting)

DaySchoolers must attend weekly, Monday, Wednesday and Fridays 9:30 am – 4:30 pm for consistency .

PRIVATE LESSONS

Want a well-trained dog but don’t have the time or flexibility to attend a weekly group class? Need help on a particular training issue? Private lessons offer the one-on-one attention you need to accomplish your specific training goals and at a pace that is comfortable for you.

This method of training is completely tailored to you and your dog’s specific needs. We can cover anything from puppy issues to advanced skills, distraction training, aggression or behavior modification. After the initial consultation, lessons can be held at any location where you feel your dog needs the most help as long as your trainer agrees it is in you & your dog’s best interest. Just choose how far you would like to go with your dog and DogJoy will get you there as quickly as possible.

Lesson times are scheduled at a private time that is convenient for you, so there’s no chance of missing a session and falling behind just because you were unable to make it to a group training class every Tuesday night for six weeks straight.

Prices are based on training goals and the type of training that is needed.

After the initial consultation, private lessons are offered by the hour if needed. Those looking to do more than one session have the option to purchase packages at a discounted rate.

BOARDING SCHOOL

Your dog stays at the beautiful DogJoy ranch, a fun alternative to your typical boarding kennel, while your dog’s trainer focuses on the commands that are important to improving your dog’s overall conduct, including common behavior issues.  Your dog will become the trainer’s new best friend, accompany them around the facility during training sessions, eat lunch together on occasion, and use every outing on the property as a training opportunity to learn the skills it takes to be the perfect canine good citizen.

We have several program options to choose from so that you can reach your desired training goals.  This one-on-one instruction gives your dog consistent individual attention throughout the day, which enables us to reach your goals in a much shorter period of time.

An initial consultation with your trainer is required before scheduling Boarding School. Pricing is based on the type of training needed and the length of stay, which is determined by what your training goals are and your dog’s current training abilities. Each level also includes an exit lesson (usually taking between one to two hours) with you, the owner, to make sure you understand the commands and how to communicate them to your dog. Follow up lessons are also included with each program. This is very important for a successful transition of skills to you and your home.

Space is limited and must be scheduled in advance. Please contact us for more information.

Dogs under six months, and those not house trained, may be charged an additional fee.

PAW TALK

A dog interaction safety class for youth.

Parenters partners with DogJoy Ranch to offer “PawTalk” classes that show children how to safely interact with dogs. The classes utilize trained, trustworthy dogs so children can learn in a secure environment.  After class, children will understand dogs’ behavioral queues and appropriate responses. This class is great for families who love to spend time in off-leash parks or who recently adopted a new dog.

A 1 ½ hour session (one time) offered rotating Saturday or Sunday mornings.
